My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Arya, an amazing young Great Pyrenees

Arya joined BAARK Dog Rescue from a high-kill shelter in San Antonio Texas. She had been adopted in October but was found as a stray in January and was never reclaimed. Her time was up and like so many other homeless dogs in Texas, was scheduled to be euthanized.

Arya is just about 3 years old, an adorable, absolutely beautiful girl weighing 78 lbs. Arya has lived with cats and dogs (larger and small) at her foster home in Texas and here in the Chicago area. However she appears too interested in cats; it is best that she be adopted into a family with no cats. While good with other dogs, she does have dominant tendencies.

Arya is absolutely wonderful with people and everyone who has met her says she is gentle, friendly, personable and easy going. She loves to cuddle; her favorite pastime is just hanging out with her family and friends. Typical of the breed, she can be active, however.

An idea family for Arya is one who knows the breed well, and ideally has no other pets so Arya can receive all the attention she deserves. She likely would be fine however, with a more submissive dog, with proper introduction.

Arya is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is housebroken.

If you are interested in adding this amazing girl to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Please note that BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and only adopts local to this area.
