Ralph is a smaller shepherd mix who is around a year old. He weighs about 40 pounds at the moment. But is still very thin. He was found on the side of the road and was thought to be dead. As I approached he attempted to live but was unable too as he had been hit by a car. He couldn't walk so I quickly wrapped him in my jacket and rushed him to the nearest vet. They informed me he had broken his pelvis in three places. The poor guy was skin and bones and scared of absolutely everything (most likely feral). He was put on crate rest and continued to be nervous and scared around any person or dog that came close. Slowly he has opened up and began trusting us. Although he still gets nervous at times he is extremely food motivated and that is the easiest way to win him over. He loves head and neck scratches as well. A complete sweetheart once he trusts you. He would thrive in a quiet home with a more confident dog or no dog at all. He has food aggression with any food that touches the ground and this should be closely monitored if in a multiple dog household. He can be friendly with other dogs but it takes a day or two for him to warm up to them. He is kennel trained and potty trained.

Additional adoption info
Adoption application required.
Adoptions applications are checked by contacting references and veterinarians of those with pets to ensure our pups go to the best homes possible. We work hard to place dogs into the right families, but sometimes we realize the fit isn't quite working out for the adopter or the pet..
If an adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in TX usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal locally, and help the adopter screen applicants and facilitate finding another adoptive home for the pet in your area.

We are a TEXAS based rescue who transport regularly to this area. Our dogs are in TEXAS and will be transported to you if you adopt from us.
Our pets are posted on our website, and most live in homes with their fosters. We live with our foster dogs to get to know them in a home setting and to let them know that life can be good away from the streets.
We work to correct poor behaviors, teach manners and observe each dogs particular quirks and personalities so we can give accurate observations of the dogs you are interested in.
We know that dogs will sometimes behave differently with different people but we can give you our impressions of our pups and situations they have been in.
