My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or in the North / Central Texas area.

NAME: Buddy
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: About 4 1/2 years
WEIGHT: About 8 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be Fine With children (10 years and older)

Introducing Buddy! This adorable, laid back boy loves everything and everyone. We love his sweet personality, and we think you will too!

Buddy was found as a stray in the Dallas area. He did not have a collar or a microchip. It looked like he had been lost for awhile (thin, dirty coat, long nails). The good Samaritans looked and looked for his human. When no owners stepped forward, they reached out to see if we could bring Buddy into our program. We are happy to have him. He is a great little guy.

Buddy is a super easy-going dog. He immediately fit in with the other small dog in his foster home. Buddy has started playing a bit with his foster brother. He loves to run through the house with him! When they are done playing, they will cuddle up in the same bed for a relaxing nap. Buddy is starting to get interested in toys and is just beginning to play with them. Buddy enjoys being outdoors and sunning. He is really enjoying this spring weather!

Buddy absolutely loves his humans! He also enjoys meeting new people who come to visit. He likes to be in the same room with his family. Buddy is a champion cuddler, and will spend hours on your lap asking for belly rubs and snuggling with you. We love the way he lays his head on your shoulder and nuzzles into your neck. He is the sweetest, gentlest little guy.

Our vet estimates that Buddy is about 4 1/2 years old. He weighs 8 pounds, is fully grown. Our vet tells us that Buddy is likely a Chihuahua / Yorkie mix. As such, he has a beautiful medium length, light colored coat. Buddy has deep brown eyes. He has a cute little under bite that adds to his charm. And his ears perk up when you call his name. Buddy is super smart. He knows “go potty” and “treat”. He loves to learn.

Buddy fits into any situation quickly. We think he would enjoy another small dog as a buddy, but we also think he would do fine as an only dog as long as his family was around alot and gave him lots of love. He would be great for a work at home family! Buddy needs a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Buddy is fairly quiet – only barking to alert if someone comes to the door. He hasn’t been around children, but we think he would do well in a home with older, mature children (10 and older).

Buddy is potty trained. He has learned to use the doggy door in his foster home. He enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster family and hopes you will let him sleep and cuddle with you. Buddy is also good on a leash. He enjoys taking daily walks and would enjoy walking with his new family.

This guy is so sweet and we are excited to help him find his forever home!

Buddy is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Buddy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in late February, and he will then be ready for adoption.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation is required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
