My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Hercules
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: About 4 months old
WEIGHT: About 5 pounds (still growing)
DOGS/CATS: Great with other dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with children 10 and older.

Meet Hercules, a high energy puppy who loves life. This guy loves to play, sleep and cuddle. He is a sweetheart and cannot wait to find his forever home.

Hercules was found as a stray in McKinney TX (a suburb of Dallas). He had no collar and no microchip. Collin County Animal Control kept him safe as they searched for his owners. When no owners stepped forward, they reached out to CRT to see if we could bring him into our program. This guy has been a delight from the day we got him. You are going to love him.

Hercules gets along well with the other small and medium dogs in his foster home. He loves to run, play and tumble with them. We are very impressed with Hercules’ intelligence at a young age. He is very dog intelligent and can gauge which dog he can have fun with and which dog he has to watch out for (there is a foster sibling who is a senior and really does not want to play – so Hercules respects that!). Hercules also loves to run in the yard. He is fascinated with bugs, sticks, and even frogs! Hercules LOVES toys of all kinds. He especially loves to play with balls and squeaky toys. One of his favorite things to do is to play “fetch” with his humans. He is still a puppy and has a high puppy play energy level. He is adventurous and loves life.

One really cute thing about Hercules – he likes collections. Hercules will take all of his balls from inside his crate to another spot and play with them. When the other dogs take the balls away he recollects them back into their grouping. He is not toy possessive but he just loves to put all his toys in the same place! If only we could teach our other fosters how to pick up their own toys – LOL.

When Hercules is done playing, he crashes for a nap. You can often find him snuggled together with one of his foster siblings in the same bed with their heads laying on each other! Or he will find soft blankets and dig in!

Hercules loves his family. He loves to hang with you in whatever room you are in so he doesn’t miss any family fun. When you are ready to relax, he is ready too. He loves to cuddle. Hercules will climb up next to you and share your love. Hercules has a fun personality and will provide comic relief for the entire family! He is as sweet as he can be. We cannot wait to see how he grows and matures as he continues to settle in. If you want some snuggle time every night, Hercules wants to volunteer for the job.

Hercules is super smart. He is working on his potty training and almost there. He is also crate trained.

Our vet estimates that Hercules is about 4 months old. He is about 5 pounds, and may grow another pound or two. Note that Hercules loves his food. As with all our fosters, we measure his food at every meal. We encourage our adopters to continue this practice (IE no free feeding) so that Hercules stays trim and does not gain too much weight. Hercules is primarily golden brown with white highlights. He has the cutest brown button nose. And his ears are awesome!

The perfect home for Hercules would be one with high energy and a fun environment. Being a puppy, Hercules would enjoy another small dog to grow up with. (Applications will not be considered where he would be the only dog). He also needs a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). He would do best in a home environment with a secure fence. He does alert (bark) when he hears strange sounds, so we do not think he would do well in an apartment environment. He is growing up with teenage sisters and adores them. Hercules would enjoy older, mature children (10 and older) in his family.

Hercules is being fostered in the Dallas, Texas area. If he sounds like the new best friend you’ve been looking for, please fill out an application! Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Hercules will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. He will be completing his vet work in late April and will be ready for adoption at that time. We are taking applications now. He wants to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
