My story

Chihuahua
Age: Senior
Female, spayed
6 lbs

Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations)

Cadbury was picked up by animal control as a stray, along with another small, female senior Chihuahua, Willow. It was obvious that they were very bonded, so we pulled them from the shelter and found them a permanent foster home where they could stay together. Unfortunately, Willow passed away last year due to complications from pneumonia. The foster mom then took on another foster dog, Mocha. Cadbury bonded with Mocha. Then another unfortunate event - Cadbury’s and Mocha’s foster mom became ill and was unable to care for them, so they were placed in another foster home together.

Both Cadbury and Mocha turned out to be sweet, friendly, confident little dogs (a far cry from when we first met them). We would LOVE to find them a forever home TOGETHER. They are great company for a mature family and for each other.

Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.

Why adoption is a great option

Cadbury, a San Leandro Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in San Leandro, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in San Leandro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Leandro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Leandro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Leandro paves the way for another one to be saved.
