*Note: Currently, Ella is with a foster family in Toronto.
Ella was born after her mom was rescued from an abusive situation. Her mom’s owner had cruelly tied a large wire around her stomach by her hind legs. The wire was so tight it cut through her skin and caused deep and painful lacerations. No one would have guessed she was pregnant, but shortly after she gave birth to 9 puppies, 7 of whom survived. After being born, Ella lived in a shelter with other dogs. Although the smallest of her litter, she has the biggest heart and was the most openly affectionate among her siblings.
She enjoyed playing with the dogs at the shelter and was always happy and playful. She also loved going for walks and picnics. Despite being well socialized with people and other dogs in Korea, moving to Canada was a bit of an adjustment for Ella, as she is still very young and inexperienced. Shelter life was all she knew her whole life and she is still figuring out the changes she's gone through. Indoors, Ella is very mellow and sweet. She loves to “smooch” and craves attention. She does well with her canine foster siblings. Outdoors, Ella feels insecure and wary, and her instincts to escape in unfamiliar outdoor spaces that make her nervous means she is a flight risk. She does fine putting on her harness, collar, and leash, but currently gets nervous when outdoors. She will need some time to rediscover her love of the outdoors and realize it is a safe place.
Her ideal home is with a family where people are home for the majority of the day or have the time to spend with her, as she is still young. She would enjoy another friendly, well balanced canine sibling for her to mirror, especially when being outdoors. A secured backyard with direct access and a wooden fence (no chain link fences) would be a requirement for her home.
