My story

8 yr young Ash is as sweet and gentle as the look on his face. He checks all the ""good boy boxes"" Ash loves to go for short walks or car rides. He would do well in a with our without dogs, he prefers the company of adults and cohabitates nicely with calm senior dogs. He doesn't seem to mind the neighborhood feral cats, but he hasn't been tested. Ash has recently been neutered, microchipped and had a dental cleaning. This darling chihuahua/terrier mix is an ideal lap buddy, he doesn't understand why a family hasn't chosen him yet. Poor little Ash falls under the little black dog curse, we know it's hard to get good photos of him that scream, ""I WANT ASH IN MY HOUSE!"" But trust us, if you look beyond his color you will be rewarded with a very loyal canine companion.

More about this rescue

Lionel's Legacy is a San Diego based senior dog rescue and elementary humane education program. We provide a last chance for senior dogs entering the shelter systems in both San Diego and Los Angeles. We solely rely on fosters to care for our seniors temporarily while looking for their furever home or as permanent hospice fosters when the need arises. We also believe in early education as a means of preventing pet overpopulation. As a second grade teacher at Central elementary in San Diego, I see first hand the difference educating our brilliant young minds can make. Lionel's Legacy- Saving ONE senior dog at a time and educating MANY young minds to leave a legacy of compassion and advocacy!
