My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Beauford
Nicknames: Beaufie. Bubba. Bewd
Breed: Bully Mix
Weight: 60 lbs.
Sex: Male
Age: ~ 2 years
Before OMD: He's a southern gentleman. He made his way to us from our Texas rescue partner and he's been hanging in foster for a few months while we've been addressing some of his medical needs.
Medical Deets: Due to what our veterinary team assumes was poor backyard breeding, Beau has bad hips. The good news -- he's not in pain and, per our vets, he's not in need of surgery yet. In a few years, he will be a candidate for FHO surgeries on both hips, which the rescue is dedicated to helping cover. In the meantime, he gets around very well, but should avoid lots of steps. Some steps are no problem. Beau also had a bout of pancreatitis and will need a low fat, limited-ingredient diet.
Doppelgänger: The Lion King's Pumba. Just wait until you see his happy trot...
What his foster mom is saying: "He is a very easy dog, low maintenance & eager to please. He's a really great guy."
What his fans are saying: "OMG" ..."I wish I could adopt him!"... "What a meatball!"
Energy Level: Low the majority of the time. Higher during playtime with toys.
Side Hustle: He's a little too laid back for a side hustle but, he did have a hair styling gig at one point when he was an apprentice to his temporary foster mom who owns a salon. His updos were atrocious but he was a fabulous greeter/concierge.
What we love most: He's always happy. He's the perfect balance of "sitting back and observing" and "sitting right on top of you" when you invite him. His "WOOOO"'ing when you come home or when (he thinks) his meal is late. He's incredibly handsome.
What he loves most: Co-piloting (and he's pretty offended if you take a trip without him). Stuffed Toys. Food. His snuggle bed. His people.
Working on: Mouthing when excited. Over-stimulation when seeing other dogs on leash. Good news -- he's food motivated and easy to redirect and train.
Kids: Yes, but since he hasn't lived with young kids and is unaware of his size at times, dog savvy (and a little older) kiddos only please.
Dogs: Sure! He has lived with other dogs and done well after proper intros. He's not invasive so he makes friends easily.
Cats: Depends on the cat. He lives with a cat currently and they have developed a real friendship, but he will absolutely try to chase a new cat initially.
Crate-trained: Yes, and loves his crate, especially when you cover it like a den. He also does well being gated.
House-trained: Yes.

Beauford is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. He's available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
