My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bradley is a handsome fella with a goofy side. He is estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old. Current weight is 74lbs, vet doesn’t want him to be more than 80lbs due to his hip issues. No real history on him - he was found dragging himself out of the woods by his front legs, as his back legs were just not working at the time. Theory is that someone bought him as a puppy, and when his health issues became apparent, he was dumped and abandoned. He has MAJOR anxiety issues when this foster received him. His hind legs have improved, but this condition is permanent, requires twice daily meds (gabapentin), and on occasion he may need additional pain meds. Bradley has no idea he is physically challenged, as he runs and frolics and is, in general, a happy dog. Spent five weeks being professionally trained with Next Level Kennels in Henderson, NC. The owner, Scott Tarpley, has offered a training session for his adoptive family at no cost. ❤️. Bradley is crate trained, house trained, is not reactive to other dogs, sniffs and wags his tail at cats and doesn’t understand why they don’t want to play with him. Since his training, he has shown no aggression towards other animals. He will bark if a strange car drives up the driveway. He is friendly towards humans of all sizes, and happily lets everyone pet him. Loves to ride. Walks very nicely on a leash. Knows basic commands of Come, Sit, Down, Place (stay in one place), Let’s Go (pass through doors), Load Up (gets in vehicle). He is very loyal and loves to be around his human. He is treat motivated. Loves fetch and has some toys he loves (balls and squeaky plush). Huge ears! We have discovered he loves water and has no hesitation about jumping in and getting all wet. He is due to be neutered next week. I will also have him microchipped. He is UTD on shots, is on Heartworm and flea prevention. His blood work in February was normal. He would do well with a person/family who has time to spend exercising him ( some days he won’t be able to do as much as others, it varies), understands his hip/back leg issues, and will commit to continuing his medical treatments. It seems the initial vet at the shelter thinks he may have spinal lesions but that hasn’t been confirmed. My local vet suggested he be monitored and further testing if he gets worse, which he hasn’t. He is on daily glucosamine supplements. He is truly a great companion.
