Their adoption process

We must have an application for each adopter which must be approved by the rescue before adoption.

Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. via this link: https://form.jotform.com/92754789195174
  2. Approve Application
    1. It usually takes 1-3 business days, depending on volume. You will be notified by email either way.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. We're foster based, so no facility to visit. You can meet 10-20 adoptable dogs at our Saturday Adoption Events at PetSmart in Covington.
  4. Take the Pet Home
    1. You can take your new pup home the day your adoption is finalized. Just pay adoption fee, receive pup & vet records, take a Happy Tails pic

Go meet their pets

We are foster based, so we do not have a facility to visit, but we do have Adoption Events almost every Saturday at the Covington PetSmart, 45 Park Place Dr., Covington, LA (located off of Hwy 190 next to Home Depot). Please visit out Facebook page for dates & times.

More about this rescue

Once Upon a Tail is a foster based rescue located in St Tammany Parish in LA. We rescue dogs from every imaginable situation.... strays fending for themselves, man injured with no one else to help them, owner surrenders when they can no longer care for them, far too many from euthanasia lists before they are put down in kill shelters, and others who have been neglected and abused. We continue to ask you, our community to join us to help save all of these dogs so we can find forever homes where they are loved and treated like a member of the family.

We continue to advocate for animals and stay active in fighting for animal welfare in our parish until one day we reach the goal of making St Tammany Parish the first no kill parish in our state. We will remain unafraid and unwavering in doing what it takes, meeting with parish officials, and educating the community to accomplish this. Our hearts break in a million pieces every time we take in the abused, neglected, injured, and thrown away dog, but then every time one by one they find their forever homes, our hearts are made whole once again. It is only with community support, donations, and the amazing foster network that we can continue to be the voice and save so many!

Every Dog's story deserves a Happy "Once Upon a Tail" Ending!
