Something must be wrong with me.
When I came here, all the other cats were talking about how excited they were to get to go live with new people. And how they couldn't wait to meet them.
I don't know what's wrong with me. New people? That just sounded... scary. How did they know if the new people would be nice? Of course, lots of people are nice, but some aren't. How could they be sure?
It's like they just know! But I didn't know. So when people would come in to see cats, I hid in my cubby. That was safest.
But then, they moved me out of my safe cage and into a big room - and everything changed! There were other cats there! I wasn't on my own! And gosh, there was one cat who was big and strong and so handsome... I may have a bit of a crush on him...
But when people walked in to see cats, he would run right over to them! And that's when I realized - maybe I can't tell about which people are nice, but other cats can! So he became kind of a "guide cat" for me - if he likes people, then I know that I can like them, too!
And now I'm getting all kinds of petting and people are playing with me with toys (I love toys!) and it's great! And the people here said that I've "blossomed" and they're happy, too!
In fact, they think that I am ready to get a home of my own - which scared me, at first. But they said that they'll make sure that I go to a home that has another cat to help me and be my friend! Oh wow, a new home AND a new cat friend! That'll be... well, everything I could have ever hoped for!
So if you maybe know someone who needs a cat like me - a little timid at first, but warms up quickly and is very sweet and loves toys, too - can you please send them my way? Tell them to ask for Janine - that's me!

(Janine is 1 year old, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. There's nothing at all wrong with Janine - she is a SUPER sweet girl who loves petting and playing with toys! She just needs another friendly cat to help guide her and make her feel safe. If you have a cat-friendly cat who is in need of a friend, Janine may be just the cat for you!

Janine's adoption fee is just $70.
Janine has been vaccinated, wormed, spayed/neutered and tested negative for FELV/FIV which is all included in the $70 adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this cat, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays) All cats must leave the shelter in a carrier. If you do not bring one with you, one must be purchased at the shelter if available for $5.
