My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a little dog that is good with cats, dogs and kids? Sissy is the girl for you!

Looking for a little dog who is 100% housebroken and doesn’t mind going outside? Sissy is the girl for you!

Love the idea of having a constant companion who would love nothing more than watching you cook? Sissy is the girl for you!

Do you think your dinner time might be a little too boring? Sissy’s table acrobatics and grumblings will liven up any meal!

Not getting enough talk back from the kids? Sissy loves to talk and makes the most unique noises (she’s also not a big barker).

Sissy has no fear! From day 1 here, Sissy has walked around like she owned the place.

Feeling blue? It’s impossible to be down when Sissy is around! Sissy makes us laugh daily and will brighten your day-guaranteed!

Sissy is a Miniature Pinscher Mix, and thought to be about 10 years old. She joined our Rescue Group when her owner passed away and no one in the family wanted her.

When we brought Sissy into BAARK's Program, we thought she was a hospice dog, given her appearance of possibly Cushings Disease or other medical challenge. However she is in overall good medical condition.

We have done extensive bloodwork, a 3-day urinalysis, echocardiogram and liver ultrasound. Her bloodwork and urinalysis did not show any markers for Cushings and since she is asymptomatic, there really wasn’t a need to pursue further Cushings testing. Her echocardiogram turned up only a very mild heart murmur. The ultrasound confirmed what we already suspected; Sissy has an enlarged liver. But the good news is that her liver is clear of masses and her liver numbers on bloodwork are normal. The only medication that Sissy is on is Enalapril, an inexpensive high blood pressure med.

Sissy is ready to live her twilight years with a fun and exciting family who will include her in all of their activities. She loves to be part of the action and will be sure to make every activity a fun time, simply by being part of it.

In addition to the veterinary care described above, Sissy is up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed, and microchipped.

If you are interested in adding Sissy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.
