My story

Bonnie is a sweetheart! She can be shy, but once she opens up you have a friend for life and she is incredibly affectionate. She recently spent several months in a foster home, so we have lots of notes!

Bonnie LOVES pets and would be content to cuddle all day if you wanted to. She does of course enjoy her games of tug, fetch, and going out for walks and sniffs.

She is fully house trained and crate trained and does well being left alone in the home. She loves tough chew toys like kongs or nylabones, but is not destructive. Bonnie is highly food motivated and eager to learn, below are the commands that she currently knows.

Bonnie prefers to be the only pet in the household.

Commands Bonnie knows: Sit, down, stay, wait, free, focus (eye contact), touch (touches nose to your hand), kennel (goes into kennel), come, leave it. She is also clicker trained!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
