My story

Meet Frank. Frankie is just a lovable goofball. boy. He is one happy boy who loves just people. He gets along with other dogs and loves to run in the play yard. We do not know what he thinks of cats. His previous owner was too sick to care for him anymore so Frank is looking for a new family to love. He is only 2.5 years old and weighs 70 pounds. Please help Frankie find a family to love.

Update: Frankie tested positive for Lyme's and is currently on the usual course of oral antibiotic. He is feeling and acting great and is currently still available for adoption. His medication can go home with his new family for completion.

We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821).

Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.

If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to please submit an application on our website today so that we can try and process and pre-approve any potential adopters prior to our next adoption event.

PLEASE USE THIS LINK TO SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. WE ONLY ACCEPT ADOPTION APPLICATIONS THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. ANY OTHERS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
Application link here: http://www.oscaranimalrescue.org/oscar-1-application.html

Go meet their pets

PLEASE NOTE: Our shelter is not open to the public and is by appointment only. That's because at OSCAR, one of our highest priorities is the health and well-being of the animals in our care. Unlike city shelters or pounds, whose residents are in place for a short time, as a no-kill shelter, our pets are often with us for weeks, months or even years. The shelter is the only safe place and home they know. When strangers, even well-meaning ones looking to adopt, walk through the shelter, it stresses our animals. We make appointments for potential adopters that submitted applications that have been approved through our process to meet our dogs either in our BarkYard or one of our meeting rooms. We’ll spend as much time as you need and introduce you to as many animals as you’d like to meet in order to make the best match and help you find the perfect new family member! We hold pet adoption events as much as possible for anyone interested in our animals. It is a great chance for you to come down and meet a bunch of dogs/cats before deciding who is a good fit for you. If you are coming to an adoption event to see a certain dog/cat, please email ahead of time to make sure that dog/cat will be there that day. Please email 1-2 days before the event, as some animals are placed during the week and our list is constantly changing. Individual meet and greets with specific animals are by appointment only. An approved application must be on file prior to scheduling of a meet and greet. VOLUNTEERING: YOU CAN HELP! ADOPTING—For pets near you, check out: www.petfinder.com or www.adoptapet.com or www.dogsindanger.com Don’t buy while others die. You’re new best friend is closer than you realize. FOSTERING—You can take a dog or cat into your home for a period of time (1 week to a few months). You take care of them and give them the extra time they need until they find a home of their own. Many animals are very adoptable but are in high-kill shelters where they only have 3 days to find a home. Most just need more time to find their new family. This is a very rewarding experience to know YOU were the reason they are alive. TRANSPORTING—These volunteer legs (usually 45 minutes to 1 hour each way) are the difference between life and death for most animals. Many shelters down south put to sleep 250 dogs per week. It's unbelievable, but it's true. Many rescues up north have the room and can rescue these dogs; its just a matter of getting people/families to volunteer to drive a leg. Each leg varies according to area, availability of transporters, and rescues. How it works is a coordinator sets up a run sheet that they send out with a route on it, people volunteer for the leg in their area that best fits into their schedule or their hearts. If you would like to volunteer for transport, please email us for more info: OSCARRescue@yahoo.com. Transport is a crucial part of animal rescue and we can always use help. Thank you! SUPPLY DRIVE—We collect old blankets, towels, sheets; small, medium & large dog collars, leashes; carriers/crates; dog food; dog beds; and monetary donations for vet bills (spay/neuter). FUNDRAISING—We are always looking for people to help with events and even plan them. Thousands of animals are saved each month by a network of rescuers who work together. Please join us and help make a HUGE difference! For more information, email OSCARRescue@yahoo.com
