My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pug mix | 1-2 years | Female | 22 lbs
*We cannot guarantee breed nor age.

Temperament: Loving, Funny, Mischievous!
Activity level: High energy!
Vetting: Core vaccines (dh2pp, Rabies). Spayed, microchipped, dewormed, fecal - negative. On heartworm/flea and tick prevention. 4dx blood test negative for all tick related illnesses and negative for heartworm disease. Mia does have a hernia but it is a non-reducible hernia so surgery is not required.
Housebroken: Working on it. Mia does not potty on walks and has a particular spot in her foster’s yard.
Good with Dogs: Yes! Mia wants to meet all the dogs, big and small.
Good with Cats: Not tested
Good with Children: Not tested, but fostered noted that through brief encounters with children, Mia did not seem particularly fond of children.
Any noted prey drive: Yes, she’s tried to go after squirrels.
How do they respond to the outdoors: Mia loves being outside and exploring.
Crate Trained: Will whine for the first 15-20 mins in the crate, needs continued training.
Any resource guarding: None noted.
Response to commands: Mia knows a couple basic commands. She is food motivated and is willing to continue learning new tricks.
Are they vocal: Mia will bark at someone at the door or sudden noises and may whine when you leave.
Leash Etiquette: She pulls on leash, and may also bite the leash.
Transportation: Mia is nervous in car and wants a lap in order to settle. Would recommending a seatbelt harness.
*Mia’s bio may change as we get to know her better.
*Comes with 6 weeks of pet insurance plus 2 free online group training classes.
*Due to the number of applications we have been receiving, our team is only able to respond to applicants that will be moving forward as we are an entirely volunteer-run organization.

Do you feel like you’re seeing double? Let’s keep the fun going with our pug mixes with this active beauty, Mia. Her foster describes her as “a small dog with a BIG personality” and if that is what’s right up your alley - keep reading!

Mia is a true adventure buddy: she LOVES the outdoors and likes to be on the go. She does get nervous with loud, unexpected noises and her owner should plan to keep her double leashed on walks so as to mitigate Mia getting spooked and running off.

Mia is a bit of a clown. Her foster tells us when excited she will playfully nip your fingers, ears and, on occasion, your hair! She’s got long legs, and she has been known to use them to get to your countertops and tables. She adores big and small dogs and would do so well with another dog at home. She has not been super into children, so we would not consider homes with small children. She would likely do well with children over 10 or teenagers. Her ideal home would have access to a fenced-in yard to have her get some of her energy out.

Mia is a total love bug - but she needs to have the ability to feel you out slowly. She needs to assess those around her, and once she’s deemed you a-okay, she’ll be your biggest fan. Any applicant should be able to give Mia the opportunity to get to know them slowly and comfortably. She seems interested in meeting people, but is still shy and weary of allowing strangers to pet her, and would benefit with some confidence training.

Mia would absolutely benefit from basic training and any applicant should be able to commit to this. Mia will chew furniture if you aren’t paying attention and requires redirection. She has some separation anxiety (after two years at home with their owners what pet doesn’t). She may scratch and whine at the door when you leave. She is a funny girl who will bring so much life and vigour to your home. She is not your average pug mix, she is a fast paced lady who loves to be on the go!
