My story

Annie is a super loving, special needs, senior! She is about 11 years old and needed a little tune up when she arrived at our rescue. Annie had a full dental, bloodwork (which was perfect) and examination. She is feeling so much better now! She is quirky, cuddly and starting to get a little playful but she does have some special needs which will require extra care for the rest of her life. Annie has chronic dry eye and needs prescription drops twice a day. She also has very limited vision at night so if you take her out in your yard after dark she might need you to escort her back inside. She has arthritis and takes pain medication every morning. We have noticed her getting around so much easier with the meds but she still can't jump up or off of furniture on her own. She knows her limitations and will bark at you when she wants assistance up or down. Annie was a little underweight when we first got her and we discovered she has acid reflux. We give her 3 meals a day and that seems to help. She has been doing well since her new diet routine, but she may need an antacid in the future. Due to her meal schedule, it would be best for her to have someone home most of the day. She would love this anyway, since she is a clinger! She loves her person so much, she will follow you everywhere and want to be touching you while she sleeps. Annie prefers females and loves giving kisses and getting pet. She is very cuddly and mellow. She will play with toys if you engage with her and she loves rolling around in her dog bed. She would love a quiet house without small children where she could be the center of attention! Annie gets along with dogs and cats fine but prefers people and can get a little protective. She really wants all the attention for herself! We love her afro but she does require regular grooming and needs the hair trimmed around her eyes often! She is learning to tolerate brushing but we definitely recommend a professional taking care of her trims since she is so wiggly! Annie is housebroken, spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. We know Annie needs more care than most dogs, but, like all good things, she is worth the extra work! Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Go to our website to fill out an Adoption Application! We will review your app and, if your home is a good match for the pet, we well email you to set up a meeting with your family and current pets. If all goes well at the meeting, we offer a foster to adopt program where you can take home the pet you're interested in for up to two weeks to make sure he/she is a good fit for your home and is welcomed by your other current animals. We just ask that you leave the adoption fee as a deposit before taking your pet home. Any time within the two weeks, if you decide the pet is a perfect addition to your family, let us know and sign the Adoption Contract, we will hand over all vaccine paperwork, and the pet is yours! (If you decide the pet is not for you, the deposit will be returned in full) Adoption Fees: $400 for puppies (6mo or younger) $350 for adult dogs $250 for senior dogs (8+years) $150 for kittens (6mo or younger) $125 for adult cats $100 for senior cats

Go meet their pets

Potential adopters must submit an application before setting up a private meeting with that specific animal. Once application is reviewed, we will email to make arrangements to set the date/time. We ask that the entire family and current pets are present. Meetings are held at the animals location or at your home. We also have adoption shows occasionally where you can come down and meet some of our adoptable pets. Please check our Facebook page at to find out when our next show will be!

More about this rescue

Domino Effect Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non profit, no kill animal rescue located in Temecula Valley, California dedicated to saving the lives of animals in county shelters. By taking in some of these homeless animals, we hope to ease the overcrowding in shelters which leads to euthanasia. We provide care and love to all animals that enter our rescue as they await their loving, forever homes. Each animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and examined by a licensed veterinarian. Some animals require more medical care than the basics and we help them heal so that they can live healthy lives with their next family. We also work on basic obedience and socialization skills to help each pet develop desired behaviors for their future family.
