My story

Hi! My name is Peppers and I am a 7 year old spayed microchipped beagle mix with beautiful brown eyes. I weigh 24 pounds am looking for a forever home where I will be loved and spoiled. I am currently in a foster home with 5 chihuahuas and 1 German Shepherd who I get along well with all of them. I am calm when meeting new dogs but vocal when I meet new humans. I quickly warm up when approached calmly. I am equally comfortable with men and women. I am used to sleeping in the bed with my humans but in my foster home, I curl up on a chair in the living room and am fine all night sleeping there. I can also sleep in a crate while being comfortable and content. I am very aware of my surroundings and alert my foster family when I see or hear anything new in the typical beagle manner. I enjoy spending time outside exploring the yard but I can be very quick to try to get through a gate or door. I like to jump up on my foster Mom and Dad’s laps and give kisses then either settle on a lap or the top of the couch. Now I am justing waiting for my furever home. Is it you? Apply to adopt me at www.underhoundrailroad.org.

Peppers is currently being fostered in North Carolina and may transport along the East Coast as far North as Maine to her furever home.

More about this rescue

Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 by a group of friends, with the goal of rescuing innocent dogs from death row in Connecticut shelters. Underhound Railroad has now grown to include rescue communities in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah. With our focus on rural areas where shelters are overflowing with abandoned dogs waiting to find rescue, our network of Underhound volunteers work hard to prevent undeserved deaths, see that medical, emotional and behavioral needs are tended to, and transportation as well as a loving foster family are provided to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes!
