Sebastian von Schlat is a very handsome, 2-year-old German Shepherd. We’re not sure what tales Sebastian has to tell but what we do know is that he was on his own for a while and that he is a very sweet boy who would love a home with calm and consistent attention and routines. Shy at first, he is opening his heart to all the world has to offer and trying his hardest to be brave. The staff has been working with him and are so proud of his progress! He is feeling more and more comfortable, including on walks around the neighborhood. He can be on the shy side around other dogs, isn't a fan of pushy types, but wagged his tail and let some young pupsters kiss his face. Sebastian is only 2 years old and has a comfortable middle energy. He would prefer a home that isn't too chaotic or unpredictable. He is coming out of his shell and learning how to be a loyal companion. Sebastian is looking for someone who has the patience to help him realize he’s deserving of all the love!

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
