My story

Jewels aka “Juju” is a sweet and funny girl. She’s a chunky girl with a lot of personality and sass! The shelter had her listed as 10 years old and 80 lbs but the vet says she is more likely between 6-7 years old and 60 lbs. She LOVES to be with her people so she would be in heaven with someone retired or who is home more often than not. She does coexist with other dogs and cats in her foster home. The other animals don’t bother her and she doesn’t bother them. She grumbles if they get too close for her comfort and they go their separate ways. She has been around kids but only kids who understand how to treat dogs or older kids. She is VERY food motivated and could stand to lose a few pounds but we are working on it. Her “woos” and “raaah raaah raaahs” have quite the range and she makes so many sounds. Juju loves to talk especially at …. you guessed it, feeding time! She’s enjoys playing with her tennis ball, chasing deer, exploring on walks, swimming, lounging in the air conditioning and of course getting all the attention she can. Juju completed heartworm treatment in June and will most likely get a dental in August. She is current on vaccines, chipped and spayed. More about this rescue

Mush Rescue, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to the rescue and placement of Siberian Huskies. Based in Metro Atlanta, Mush Rescue was founded in 2008 to help displaced Siberians in the community and surrounding areas. Mush Rescue is not a shelter with visiting hours. We are comprised of a network of foster homes run entirely by volunteers. Our chapter directors, officers and trustees are also volunteers. What brings us together is our love for Siberians and the desire to help these displaced animals find forever homes. As a nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization, our expenses are funded entirely by adoption fees and donations. We rely on the generosity of others who, like us, understand and admire the complexity of this unique and highly intelligent breed, and who want to help combat the effects of pet overpopulation in our community. The Siberian Husky is an extremely smart but often misunderstood breed, which is why so many end up in rescue. Their high energy and need for mental and physical stimulation require an owner who is willing to put a great deal of time and effort into their care. Because of this, Siberians are not recommended for the first-time dog owner.
