SALLY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Sally Best Guess for Breed: Retriever and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of April 2022 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 40 lbs
Gets Along With: Sally has done well with other dogs in the shelter. We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. Sally should not go to a home with cats.
Currently Living at: Shelter; will need a foster or forever home in the DC area after completing heartworm treatment
Special adoption considerations: Sally tested positive for heartworm disease and has been treated on 5/30. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, most dogs that were heartworm positive often suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Most heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process. Retesting is recommended 6 months after treatment to confirm they are heartworm negative.
Sally is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet girl is well out of the puppy yips and as an experienced dog in her prime, knows the most important thing in life is being a well-loved dog. She's eager to meet her new humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. Trips to Starbucks for puppacinos might be a good adventure - she's definitely open to trying that!In exchange, she'll give you all the tail wags and kisses and adoring gazes she's saving up in the shelter. What do you say? Does that sound like your kind of trade?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE .
