My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dave!

Dave is a 3 yr old, 39lb, Male Staffordshire Terrier Mix

Dave is currently located in South Texas and will be transported to the East Coast.

Hi. My name is Dave also known as One-Eyed Dave, Mr. Dave, or Mr. Floof. I’m an awesome, severely handsome pittie mix, and I’m the ultimate guy…once you get to know me. I have lots of energy and am the sweetest, goodest boy. I want to find a patient family that can give me time to trust them and get comfortable in my new home.

When my foster mom came for me, I was at Animal Control, full of heart worms, and not sure if I would make it out of there. She didn’t know if I had been on the streets for a really long time or if I was abused and neglected by a previous owner. I got rid of the heart worms, and I’m one happy guy today!

I love my foster siblings - I’m the smallest one in our pack of 4. We have a good time together, especially out in the yard. I think I am king of the yard, and run around barking each time I get let out. I do enjoy romping around with other dogs that are bigger than me…after I have been around them for a little while and feel comfortable with them. I really love rough housing with my toys, so I need to not be around cats or smaller dogs. I have a lot of energy and can be a total goofball sometimes.

Once I’m comfortable, I do a lot of dancing and slapping my paws on the ground and on my foster parents. I show my teeth/smile because I get so excited. I’m kennel trained, and house/potty trained. Treats are LIFE, just FYI. And I always let my foster parents know how much I love them when I see them. I do like to growl and nip at new people because I still have fear from before. I love to bury my food in my bed and blankets for later probably because I used to not know when my next meal would be. I have gotten more used to baths and will even wag my tail now.

I am not too fond of kids, so it’s best if I’m in a home with pre-teen or teenagers. I definitely need fur parents that are understanding that I will need lots of time and love to trust them. My blind eye and deaf ear on one side always have me on the lookout and uncomfortable for longer than usual with new situations.

I can’t wait to meet you and learn new tricks, fetch all the toys, get some belly rubs, and give you all the love you could imagine!

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c) rescue based in Corpus Christi Texas. We take strays, owner surrenders, and dogs from the euthanasia list at the animal shelter. We put our dogs into foster homes to socialize. Then we vet our dogs, they are up-to-date on all vaccinations, and neutered and spayed. Once done we put them up for adoption.
