Sweet Olive has made amazing strides recently, and this is what her foster has to say about her!
"Could this sweet girl be the "Olive" of your eye?
Olive is a young adult female retriever/shepherd mix, who has been with us as our foster for about 10 months and has made fantastic strides. She is house trained, walks well on a leash, and is fully crate trained. She recently completed basic obedience at Top Dog and can sit, stay, heel, wait, and lay down.
She is a very smart dog - but does need crated if she is left unsupervised for any period of time, or she will make her own fun that can result in some things being chewed up. Fortunately she likes her crate and will go inside to relax or just hang out.
She loves toys and chewy bones, and has recently started learning to play fetch with a toy too! We think she may be part husky somewhere, as she is still a talker, sometimes grumbling and making yodeling noises when she wants to get her point across. She will also protect you from stray animals, too many Amazon packages, and other strange noises she hears with her bark but will quiet quickly after you thank her, lol.
Olive says her ideal match will have a canine playmate for her to romp with as she feels more comfortable with another dog in the home, and she loves cats as well!
She is shy at first and requires time, patience, and a calm individual to win her over, but she's worth it. She loves outside, and does best with adults, but has also done well with respectful older children."

More about this rescue
The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's mission is to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets and act as a resource to the community. By educating the public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of over breeding of dogs and cats and teach owners to be responsible pet owners. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets to good homes so that we can allow more unwanted animals to find a temporary home with us.
