Here's what the humans have to say about me:
***NEEDS FOSTER or FUREVER HOME***
Currently in Rexburg
2 - 3 yo red Australian Cattle (red heeler) dog named CONRAD or SKYE had been in a Utah shelter since March, but he won the lottery with a ticket out when Friends Furever Animal Rescue accepted him into their rescue.
SKYE entered the rescue dog-friendly and cat-friendly, crate-trained, and good on or off-leash. He is good with food and toys around other dogs (no resource guarding).
He is a little shy with new people and dogs, but warms to show his true personality--total goof-ball that just wants to be loved. He has been described as a 'shadow' to his foster mom.
He listens well and wants to please. He is very smart and picks up on cues quickly. We have seen him watch his foster siblings and copies what they do, so having another dog in his furever home is best. He is very responsive to commands followed by rewards for almost every behavior, but barking so far.
SKYE may jump fences to explore. If SKYE develops an initial bond, gets rewarded for good behavior, and is loved, he’ll come back when called. As previously mentioned, he tends to follow the lead of other dogs he trusts. If the other dogs don’t jump, then he may not consider it.
SKYE was not trained before entering the rescue, so has a few habits that will need an experienced, patient owner (preferably women) to manage. He likes to counter-surf to look for food, but this could mean that he is food-motivated to learn all good behaviors. Because he shows some anxiety (barking) in the foster home and vehicle when left alone, SKYE will do best with someone home a lot.
SKYE is fully vaccinated, neutered and will be microchipped for his furever family. His Adoption Fee is $225.
He's going to make a really great pet for someone!
