My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Arrow is just 2 years  old and he weighs about 60  pounds. He has been with his current family a little over a year after being adopted from the local shelter. His adoptive family is seeking a new home for him because of his leash reactivity to other dogs. Despite being very dog-social in play groups and daycare, his leash behavior has not improved even after some training. (see below for details)

He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated - all set for his forever home! He has no known health issues aside from seasonal allergies between March and May.

He is described by his current family as:

Playful
Friendly
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Protective
House-Trained
Crate-Trained
Likes men
Likes women

Graduated from Academy Dog Training’s 3-week basic obedience class. He learned down, stay, sit, down-stay.
He knows to wait to touch his food until given the “OK.”
He knows “wait”
He can turn around, give paw, high five.

He is home 8-10 hours/day a few days a week.

While owners are away, he is in his crate on the first floor of the house. When we are home, he is on whatever floor we are on.

He eats:
1.5 cups of A Taste of the Wild: Pacific Stream (salmon) dry food, mixed with 1/3 cup Merrick: Grain Free Lamb Recipe wet food.

Around children:

Arrow  loves children, but he tends to get very excited around them and may accidentally knock them over. We would recommend he lives with children over 10.

Around dogs:

Arrow  is excellent off-leash in daycare/boarding settings. However, due to his reactivity with other dogs on walks, it may be best that he is the only dog. He has gotten along with female dogs when we have done short in-home visits. We have not introduced  Arrow  to male dogs in an in-home setting.

Around cats:

He has been able to walk in close proximity with cats without lunging, but most of the time he reacts with lunging when he encounters a cat.

His ideal forever home, as described by his current family:

Arrow  deserves to be with a person/family who is experienced with bully and shepherd breeds and is willing to continue training with him to control his reactivity and establish trust with his owners.

A fenced-in yard would be ideal for  Arrow  as he works to control his reactivity on walks. A suburban or rural environment would suit him best, as the loud sounds of the city may make him nervous.

He is very obedient and loyal to his humans within the house and on walks until he is overstimulated by seeing a dog or other animals.

Arrow  loves to cuddle on the couch and be near his humans. He will give you the bully breed “boop”/herding nudge with his snout when he wants to let you know he’s in need of more cuddles.
