My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brian is being fostered in PA

June update: Brian had his enucleation (eye removal) surgery on June 20 and is recovering amazingly well with the exception of not liking the cone he has to wear for a couple weeks.
Brian has settled in very well to his foster home and his high-speed pacing has decreased significantly, only occurring when he is ready for his breakfast or supper and when he's outside for some reason. He continues to be quiet (except at meal time), wonderful with the other dogs in his home and in non-reactive to cats.
He is a sweet, healthy, older boy who continues to have a lot of pep in his step. With the choice of 4 different rooms and about a dozen dog beds, he can be found on his "bed" of choice, in the kitchen on a foam floor mat in front of the sink.
He will not indicate a need to go outside but it is predictable that if he wakes from a nap and starts to circle, he needs to go outside to potty.
Brian is still not a a boy who enjoys sitting in a lap but he is very cooperative when picked up and carried, when taken to the vet, etc.
He is very much looking forward to his forever home.

Brian is a sweet, gentle, quiet older guy who is fairly spry for a 15 year old pup. He was uprooted from his home of many years before coming into his foster home about 2 weeks ago, as of May 2, 2022. He lives with several other dogs of varying sizes and 2 cats and is excellent with all of them. Brian is still adjusting to his foster home and will often circle rather than trying to go somewhere with purpose. He will get up when he smells the fresh air of a door being left open and when he smells meals being prepared. He goes with the flow and his potty habits are very good but not always perfect if left alone for several hours, but improving drastically since becoming used to his new environment. At this point, he needs to be carried outside, but his foster mom is sure he can learn to find his way out there himself and will start guiding him out and back in on a leash to teach him this.
Brian had a very good first check up at the vet. His bloodwork and body condition were both very good but he needs to have a dental and his left eye needs to be removed because the pressure is very high from glaucoma. Brian tested positive for Lyme Disease and will be on an antibiotic for 3 weeks to treat that. Fortunately, he was neutered earlier in his life so he has no health issues that often accompany intact dogs.
Brian does not need a fenced yard but he seems to like being outside, so a slow walk or two each day on a leash would be perfect for him.
Brian will be having his dental surgery on June 1st and his enucleation (eye removal) on June 20th. After he recovers from his enucleation, he will be ready to go to his new home in early July. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
