This handsome guy is Ice, a 16 month old, 49 pound, full breed Husky who has all the traits, both good and not so good, that are typical of that breed. He’s very friendly with people and does well with kids. It goes without saying that he’s gorgeous.
As expected, Ice is very high energy and still needs some work on his manners, but is responsive to training. He will need a lot of exercise to expend that energy as Huskies aren’t couch potatoes. Ice also requires a secure, minimum 6’ fence as this breed tend to be escape artists.
Ice literally lost his home to wildfire but previously lived with a cat and does well with other dogs too. He has showed some resource guarding when something is “his” (like a bone or chew), but doesn’t show those traits otherwise. Best to give him toys, treats, and maybe feed time in his own area.
Huskies don’t do well with heat so he’ll need to be an indoor dog only with this Texas weather.
Please do your research on this breed if you’ve never owned a Husky before. They are wonderful dogs, but so much more responsibility than just a pretty face! We are particularly interested in those with breed experience, maybe even someone looking for a Husky companion for their existing Husky. Applicants who demonstrate experience will get preference in placement.
