What a pair! Gretchen and her sister Cleo were born on the side of a busy freeway in a homeless encampment. Their mother got onto the freeway shortly thereafter and was killed. Gretchen and Cleo grew up in the homeless encampment. One day, their homeless guardians vanished and the two dogs were picked up by Animal Control and taken to the shelter. Gretchen's sister Cleo had a wound on her shoulder, either from being kicked or hit with something sharp. Both were terrified. That was a while ago and now the girls have recovered from their previous life and healed their physical and their emotional scars. They are still shy with new people but they are lovely and silly dogs once they are comfortable. Gretchen (the all tan colored one) is a bit more outgoing and curious than Cleo. She more the investigator and Cleo loves to lounge and snuggle up. Both love to bury themselves in soft beds and blankets. They will do best in an adult household with yard access.
Thank you for your interest in adopting. Please make sure to read the dog's bio carefully. We get to know the dogs very well to make sure, they find the right match for their forever home. Due to limited staff during this crisis, please only contact us, if you meet the basic criteria listed in the dog's bio.
