My story

Meet Quigley
PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us.

Quigley is currently about 6 months old and 40 pounds, expected to be 50-60 pounds when fully grown. She is a huge snuggle bug, and loves to go on walks and play. She already knows how to fetch her ball! She walks nicely on a leash, with a little pulling when she’s excited, but easily fixed with training. Gets along well with dogs in the household, and working on introductions to new dogs. Good with dogs and kids. Mostly potty trained (will still need you to supervise). Great addition to any home!

APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application)

The adoption fee is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 4-6 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped.

Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top

We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.

Why adoption is a great option

Quigley (watch video), a Ellicott City Labrador Retriever/Mixed Breed (Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Mixed Breed (Medium) for sale in Ellicott City, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Mixed Breed (Medium) dog from a breeder in Ellicott City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ellicott City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ellicott City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Mixed Breed (Medium) breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Mixed Breed (Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ellicott City paves the way for another one to be saved.
