My story

Hi!

My name is Sooty, and I am a new resident of the Victoria SPCA. I came here with my best friend, Orange. We are a bonded pair so we would need to go to a new home together!

Our favorite activities to do during the day are napping, eating lots of veggies and munching on treats. Our favorite vegetables are kale and carrots!

Our ideal home would have a big indoor area for Orange and I to run around in, and provide us with lots of sticks to chew on.

Thank you for your interest in adopting from us! Due to the high number of applications we receive for our animals, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their application.

Please note, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic our adoption process has changed. Please visit our website spca.bc.ca/adoption/how-to-adopt/ for more information and to apply for the animal you are interested in. All adoptions are by appointment only once we have received and approved an application.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office. Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:
The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:
The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease
3. Freedom from distress
4. Freedom from discomfort
5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
