Hans sat at the shelter patiently waiting for his owners to come and get him but after two months they never came. He didn't understand what happened; had he done something wrong? Confused, he just sat and waited. And then he ran out of time. Fortunately Coastal GSR stepped in and brought him in to their rescue family. Confused by his new surroundings at first, he quickly settled in to a new routine surrounded by a bunch of new friends, regular walks, occasional snacks, and lots of interesting things going on around him in the kennel. Hans is now enjoying a new life.Nicknamed 'Handsome Hans' by one of our partner veterinarians, Hans is indeed very good looking. Plus he is big and energetic. Hans will greet you by standing up and putting his paws on your shoulders to say hello. He LOVES walks, sniffing out exciting new smells and dog cookies!Hans is still learning his leash manners and basic etiquette. Hans is just about 'perfect' and is steadily making progress towards that goal. He doesn't always like other dogs and he can be selective. Hans would probably be best in a one dog household at this time. And, he most likely would not be a good fit in a household with a cat or small children. Did we mention he's big?

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.September 22, 2023, 5:29 am

More about this rescue

Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Your tax deductible donations go to support these very deserving animals. Coastal was formed to serve communities in the counties of San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future.

We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all volunteer, no-kill, non profit organization.

Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of over population of animals through education, training, spaying and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families.
