My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chomper

Fixed: Yes
Chipped: Yes
Shots: up to date
Age: 6-8 months
Breed: dsh
Weight: 3.5lbs

Chomper was originally found as a severely injured 4-6 month kitten. She had likely been hit by a car, causing her pelvis to be crushed and a spinal cord injury. Because she was injured and unable to quickly escape, it is believed that she was then attacked/mauled by an animal. 🥺She was hospitalized at the vet for several days and has recovered very well.

Chomper has beautiful, shiny black fur that is super soft and contrasts against her giant yellow eyes. She enjoys playing with toys and chirping at her human. Chomper loves to zoom around, but when she’s done playing she expects all the snuggles! She purrs non-stop and loves to be carried around. 💗

Her special needs: Chomper is paralyzed in her backend and incontinent. Although her mobility is limited, she can do nearly everything a “normal” cat can do. She is able to quickly get around and can climb onto furniture to cuddle. Despite common misconceptions, paralyzed cats live perfectly long, healthy, happy lives! Their care really isn’t much more than a regular cat, just different.

Chomper needs her bladder manually expressed by her human. This means that you gently squeeze her abdomen so that she can urinate. It’s much simpler than it sounds once you get the hang of it! She can be expressed directly into the toilet or a puppy pad. (If you don’t have other cats, this also means no litter box!) she needs her bladder expressed 2-3 times a day and it takes about 2 minutes or less. Her care can easily be incorporated into a full-time work schedule! Chomper wears (very cute!) washable diapers or pants to protect from any accidental leaks and keep her skin safe from dragging across the floor.

At this time, Chomper has no special vet care needed or anticipated. I’m happy to answer any and all questions about caring for her. I promise paralyzed cats are much easier than you’d think!

Is pet good with children? She has not been around cats, but is very friendly and affectionate. I would anticipate no problems with kiddos

Dogs? Cats? Yes, she is around both in her foster home. She LOVES other kitties.
