If you’re looking for the goodest boy to add to your family, stop scrolling! You’ve officially found him. Meet Duke… your new best friend.
Duke is a 2-3 year old male lab mix with a stunning white coat and unique markings (check out those ears!) He is an old soul in a young pup’s body that wants to be a lap dog and enjoys snuggles just as much as he likes playtime! He will paw at his friends as if to say “ok pal, I’m done, it’s time to snuggle” and has the best temperament and most patient personality. He is a big boy, but he is very responsible with his size and will do his best not to knock you over or pull you around. He loves to go for walks and would make an amazing adventure buddy!
Duke is “dog park approved” and gets along with every dog he meets. He walks well on a leash, loves to ride in the car, comes when called and knows how to sit and shake…. This boy LOVES to shake! He is potty trained and crate trained & will happily sleep through the night with no accidents or noise. The only time he barks is when he’s playing hard with the other pup in his foster home! Duke loves kids and hanging out with his humans - any opportunity to get attention and he is all about it!
Duke’s perfect home would have humans with lots of love to give that enjoy adventure just as much as he does. He would love a furry sibling in his home, but we are saying no cats, because he has shown a little bit of prey drive! He would be OK as an only pup if his humans take him on lots of play dates or to doggy daycare. Duke would do well in just about any home with room to run and people to love. If you’re ready to add him to your family, apply today!
If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form
PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Duke, a Johnston Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Johnston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Johnston.
Rescues and shelter volunteers in Johnston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Johnston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Johnston paves the way for another one to be saved.
