My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

•Harrisburg, PA• JJ is FIV positive but he doesn't let that stop him! He is a lover and is super smart! JJ is a social butterfly who has to be in the middle of every activity in his foster home. He currently lives with three dogs and has made sure they all know who's really in charge. JJ doesn't miss much and has to "introduce" himself to all visitor’s human and K9. He does not currently live with other cats so we are unsure how he would do living with another kitty. JJ sleeps in bed with his foster mom and his K9 housemates. He loves to snuggle and often goes to bed early to ensure he has the best cuddle spot. He loves all humans, adults, and children. He's happy as long as he is getting attention. Since JJ was a street kitty prior to coming to ODAAT, he has grown accustomed to going outside. Sunning himself is one of his favorite activities. He also likes to walk around our fenced yard with the dogs. He is litter trained but prefers to potty outside so a safe space or a catio where he could have some outside time in a safe manner would make JJ a happy boy. This guy is one happy cat who wants to live his life to the fullest. JJ is FIV positive but that's not slowing him down one bit. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Applications can be found on our website at www.onedogatatime.us When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are run prior to choosing an adopter. This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website at www.onedogatatime.us Please watch for a welcome email. Thanks so much for considering adopting!

Additional adoption info

The goal of ODAAT is to place our companion animals in lifetime, loving homes. Every home and every companion animal has it 's own unique personality and requirements. We place our animals in the supportive and loving environment of home foster care. While there, we gain knowledge about their personality, training skills, likes and dislikes. To assist us with matching the correct companion animal with the most appropriate and compatible home, please fill out our adoption application questions as completely and correctly as possible and any other information you think would be helpful. The application will be followed-up by an ODAAT Adoption Coordinator, with a phone interview and then a home check. Adoption contract and post-adoption follow-up checks are required as a condition of adoption. Some companion animals get multiple applicants or are not appropriate matches, so not all adoptions will be approved. Not all applicants will receive a yes or no response due to limited staff. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption without justification. Our Adoption Costs vary but below is a guideline: Dogs: $400-$300 Puppies:$450 Cats: $75 Kittens: $100 Why the high cost? Can't I adopt an animal for less? No.. and here's why: Our animals come to you fully vetted. It costs us less for medical care than you do to non-profit discount. So if you adopt an animal for less it will cost you more later. Spay & Neutering your animals, along with keeping up on shots prevents disease & illnesses.

We are an all foster-based rescue. Once a potential adopter submits an application they will receive a "Welcome email". This email requests certain steps be done in order for our volunteers to run the application. We do not process applications that do not return the requested information as we are extremely busy. We are very serious about the placement of our animals and want to make sure that the home is both perfect for the animal and perfect for the adoptive family.
