My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calliope is a young German Shepherd mix. She was saved from an over-crowded shelter in southern Illinois and is now safe in foster care. As she would do the army crawl for the shelter staff anytime they tried to walk her on leash, she is now happily talking long walks with her foster parents. She is very attentive and very affectionate and she loves to play fetch. She is going to bond hard to the lucky family that gets to adopt her. She is being treated for tick borne diseases Ehrlichia and Rocky Mountain spotted fever and will need to be on antibiotics for a while. Her spay will be in a few weeks too. Glad she came into Illinois Birddog Rescue as the diseases would have been missed as most rescues don't do the better more comprehensive blood work we do.

We would like to find Callie a home in the Chicago area that can continue with her confidence building. Potential candidates need to have a safe traditional fenced in yard- no invisible fences- that would be too hard on her. We are not sure how she is with small kids so we are looking for an adult only home too.
