Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Nellie von Nebel is a gorgeous 2-3 year old German Shepherd. Nellie is a very sweet and affectionate mid-sized female who loves to please her people. This girl is a real pro on her leash – she happily heels and walks calmly by your side. During her down time, Nellie appreciates quiet time with her humans, where she'll lie quietly by your side, occasionally asking to be petted and quick to give kisses in return. She is great with her "sit" command and always ready for whatever adventures you have planned for her. As for other dogs, she does well around them on walks and in playgroups but may prefer the calmer types. If you’re looking for a sweet, lovely and loyal lady, Nellie is ready for adoption! (No cats please.)

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
