My story

Hi everybody, I`m Ella, a green-eyed gal with a blue and white coat. I know that`s a lot of colors, but they look really fab on me. They say I`m a high-energy lass, but I also have a quiet side. I like cuddling and taking the occasional nap (is everyday too much?). I`m litter box-trained and a fairly good poker player if that`s your thing (they don`t know that I can count cards). Cat toys and treats are also among my faves. So give me a call soon. I`ll be in the card room.

As a longtime resident, I`m a member of the Peggy`s Picks adoption program! When you adopt me, you’ll be able to name your own adoption fee, and we’ll take home an awesome package of supplies to help me get comfortable in my new home. Ask an adoption counselor to learn more!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Shelter pets make the best pets. We receive pets every day and we may have the perfect pet for you. We encourage you to visit the shelter in person during adoption hours rather than calling or emailing. Our goal is to help you find the perfect pet based on your personality, lifestyle and what you are looking for in a pet. Our team members and volunteers work with the pets everyday so that we may give you detailed information about the pets personalities. It may take you several trips to the shelter to find the perfect pet. When you arrive at our shelter, we suggest you visit our Dog & Cat Adoption Rooms. Once you see a pet you might be interested in adopting, remember that pet's name and come to the main lobby in the Grace Pavilion. We can help you find the pet that best fits your lifestyle. Once you meet with an Adoption Coordinator, they will bring the pet to meet you and to see if it's a match. You can then spend time with the pet and learn much more about bringing the pet into your home. Feel free to ask for recommendations. Don’t forget, we work with our pets every day and may know the perfect one for you. Weekends are very busy. Please be patient, we want to make sure we find the perfect pet for you. We recommend you bring your children to visit with the pets you are interested in. We may also schedule a dog visit to bring your family dog if you are looking for an additional dog. Please set up an appointment with an Adoption Counselor for the dog meet. We do not recommend cat-dog visits or cat-cat visits. All dogs who visit our shelter must be on a leash and be up to date on all vaccinations. Adoption is a lifetime commitment including the training, emotional commitment and future medical care. Our most successful adoptions are to visitors who take their time in finding an appropriate companion. Every day, new pets are received at the League and made available for adoption, so if you don’t find an ideal companion pet immediately, keep visiting. Please remember once you adopt we are here to support you. If you have questions, concerns or need assistance you can call our behavior help line at 472-8815. Dog Adoption Fees: Up to 39 lbs. - $125 40 lbs. and over - name your own price! Cat Adoption Fees: Up to 5 months old - $75 Over 5 months old - name your own price!

More about this shelter

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is a limited-admission humane society and provides services to over 28,000 cats, dogs, puppies and kittens each year. Operating continuously since 1 925, we have been positively impacting animal welfare and addressing overpopulation in Palm Beach County through a variety of services. Our Vision is to create a community where 100% of the adoptable animals find loving homes and no animals will be euthanized because of pet overpopulation. Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Humane Society of the Palm Beaches, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and does not receive funding from city, county, state, or the federal government, or local organizations with similar names. We rely solely on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations to provide quality programs and services to the community. Your donations directly support the services and programs in place to help animals in need. Our mission is to provide shelter to lost, homeless and unwanted animals; to furnish medical and other services for the care of companion animals; to care for, protect, and find quality homes for homeless and neglected animals; to advocate animal welfare, community involvement and education to further the bond between people and animals, for the mutual benefit of both.
