My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Tonka - Tonka truck - Tonky Wonky - The Tonkster

I am a young Foxhound. My story was a very sad one before Paw Paws saved me and I have learned that people really are not so bad. I was found in Jesup, GA - in the freezing cold weather but was very elusive for 2 weeks. I was so scared. Well, something stung me - later I was told it was a dart to tranquilize me so I could be safe from the freezing weather. There is a picture of me on intake - I think it makes me look like I was in really bad shape.

Well, 2 really nice people came to get me. I warmed up to Dave and Kelly during my car ride with them but still was really really scared. That was almost 4 months ago. Now I am a fun loving, playful, human loving hound who would be happy in your home. I bay when I want to talk to you and foster mom says it is so cute!!!

I have put on almost 20 pounds since I was rescued and living on the rescue ranch has taught me a lot. I get fed regularly and play with all the other dogs. I love the crate I sleep in - it keeps me safe from the elements and it is really cool inside the AC. I do not mess in my kennel overnight and I take treats very gently. I chase balls and of course, I smell the ground all the time. I do like to help the others dig in the "hound holes" but I don't try to run away. I know a good thing and I want to be a part of your family.

I am sure we could be happy together. I will need to continue my monthly preventatives because I tested light positive for heart worms. The rescue says they will pay for that. Maybe we can go to the beach together and play in the water too. I like tennis balls - there are like a gazillion here to play with.

Please think about me and come meet me. I will love on you and show you all the love in my heart and eyes.
