Hi there! I’m Sammy, a 5-year-old gray and white tabby boy with unusual markings on my face that tend to make people smile. My former family decided I need a new home because of their concerns about a medical condition that they couldn’t afford to treat. The good news is that the condition seems to have disappeared by itself! So now I’m a healthy guy who just needs a home to make me happy.
The most important thing to know about me is that I’m 100% love bug! I want to be with people all the time and will follow you around the house, waiting for a lap to sit on. A person’s bed is my favorite place to sleep. My second favorite activity is play. Ask me what I like to play with; my response is, “absolutely everything!” I love balls, string toys, feathers, laser pointers, and anything else you’ve got. If nobody has time to cuddle or play, I can explore on my own or make do with a cardboard scratching pad.
If your home could use an affectionate, playful cat, let’s get acquainted!

More about this shelter
As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County, Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats.
In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
