My story

Meet Mattie!

*Mattie and Matt are a Bonded pair and will only be adopted together.*

Hello, my name is Mattie. I'm a distinguished lady at 10 years old, and I weight about 18 pounds. Just like my brother, I get along with other dogs, but prefer him over anyone else. He is a little more outgoing than I am, but foster mom says I'm starting to come around and I love to cuddle. I recently had my yucky eyes taken out, and I'm not in pain any more from them! I'm not fond of thunderstorms, so my foster mom holds me real close when they happen. As much as I love my brother, I'd really prefer not sharing my chewies with him, and will let him know to give me my space when he gets to close if I have one, but foster mom takes it away so it doesn't go any further than a grumble. I don't ever tell her I don't want her near when I have them though, and I'm fine with him trying to steal my food because he eats faster than me. I'm not afraid to ask my humans for hugs and love, but when you're done I'm fine with going and laying down.

We are pretty chill, laid back dogs and would love a calm environment for our new home. We are not leash savvy, so we would really prefer a home that has a fenced in yard, unless you are 100% dedicated to training two dogs who are fearful about leashes. We do well with older kids, but kids under ten would be too much for us. Again, a calm environment would be best for us. We do really well in the car, and don't make a peep. Speaking of being quiet, we don't even bark when our foster siblings bark, we are that quiet! We are both potty trained, and use pee pads if needed when you are away for longer periods of time. Now we just need a loving home who will take care of both of us for the rest of our lives, together. Maybe a single person looking for companionship? Maybe a retired couple who has some extra time and love to give? Maybe it'll be you?!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.

Additional adoption info

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue providing compassionate care to special needs, senior, and hospice dogs. Our adoption process begins with a completed application. From there, we will review references and vet records. The next step is a home visit with your family. This visit may be in person or virtual.  At that point, if approved, we will set up a meet and greet with available dogs. All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted. Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee. -Applications with incomplete information will not be processed. - All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative. - All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam. - None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. - You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point. Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.

More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets. Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
