My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

New arrival!

Meet Valerie. This 7ish year old ChiWeenie just arrived from California yesterday. She was found as a stray out there with a very large laceration on the left side of her chest. Her owner never went looking for her so she became a ward of the state. The shelter repaired the large wound and spayed her in hopes she would get adopted. Unfortunately, being a terrified black dog in an overcrowded shelter she had no one interested in adopting her. She has been languishing there for over a month so we decided to help her out. Our connections in California sprang into action and got her on a flight to Virginia.

She is still decompressing from her stressful stay in the shelter but she is eating and drinking and getting along with her foster’s dogs.

We will give her time to adjust and try to get to know her true personality. Right now we can say that she cannot go to a home with children as loud noises and fast movements terrify her. We think she would blossom in a quiet home with a gentle family to help her adjust.

We will start accepting applications on her now so we can hopefully get her to her happily ever after as soon as possible.

We require an application, home check, positive vet reference, and that all past and present animals in the home are fixed, vaccinated, and current on heartworm prevention year-round. Current/past pets must see a traditional veterinarian (not just a low-cost/SPCA/shot clinic) at least yearly. Your current/past pets must have a proven track record of excellent veterinary care. Current/past pets must be indoor only and may not have access to the yard unaccompanied (no doggie doors). Because our animals live in private foster homes as opposed to a shelter, we require an approved application before setting up a meet and greet. Adoption fee is based on the age of the dog being adopted. If you are serious about adopting, please fill out our application and return it to sospetrescue@yahoo.com. Our application may be found on ‪www.saverofsoulspetrescue.com‬
