My story

*I am local and in Vancouver!* Update: My foster says I have developed some food guarding behaviours - they have been working on this with me, and I've gotten a LOT better, but please be prepared to continue working through it with me. I also recently had an abscess on my leg, but that was healed with antibiotics.

Hi there! My name is Malti and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Whippet/Retriever (Indie) mix

  • 6 months old

  • Female, spayed

  • May grow to be about 18-20 kg when fully grown

  • Highlights: Playful, friendly

RESCUE STORY:

  • My name is Malti! I'm just a young pup who was found on the streets of India among my 4 other siblings. They've all been adopted, so now it's my turn! I'm super playful and am friendly to humans as well as all of the other animals I have met so far. I haven't met a cat, so it's unsure of how I would react to them. I have a flight volunteer available to bring me to Vancouver on My 27th, so I will be staying there with a foster until I am adopted.

  • I will be fully vaccinated by the time I arrive.

TEMPERAMENT:

  • ENERGY LEVEL:

    • Medium

  • GETS ALONG WITH:

    • Kids – YES

    • Dogs – YES

    • Cats – YES

  • PREY DRIVE:

    • UNKNOWN

    • I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • House trained – my foster is currently helping me learn, please be prepared to continue training me!

Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems!

Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a day or two of arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I have been spayed, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.
