My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet, gentle Hope was rescued from a backyard where she was living with 30 other dogs. Food was provided, but little to no social interaction or medical care. Even so, when we would go to visit, Hope was the first to approach us for a treat. Who could resist this face?

At the time of this posting, Hope has been at our rescue for 5 months. During this time, she's learned to accept human touch, to walk on leash and to live indoors. It's such a joy to finally see her play! She smiles and hops like a bunny when she's feeling happy. And, she loves being outdoors and going hiking on quiet trails with those she trusts.

Despite living the first year of her life with a pack of dogs, Hope is fearful of most other canines. She simply growls a gentle warning for them to back up if within 6 feet and makes herself as small as possible. With calm, intuitive dogs, she slowly comes out of her shell to engage and play.

As beautiful as Hope is, we know that many people will be interested in adopting her. We can't blame you! As she is still learning to trust tho, she has special needs and only individuals meeting the following criteria will be considered for adopting this little beauty:
- Quiet home
- Live near Brevard NC, and willing to visit multiple times to ensure a successful transition
- No small children
- Secure, fenced-in yard
- Patience
- Love of outdoors
- A "helper" dog in the home. He or she must have a calm, gentle demeanor and give Hope her space until she learns to trust
- Although we're not certain, we actually think Hope would do well in a home with a gentle cat

Do you meet this laundry list of requirements? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Submit your no-obligation adoption application at: www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com and an Adoption Coach will be glad to contact you by phone. This little honey is worth the effort.
