My story

River is such a sweet boy. His health has improved drastically since he was rescued. He loves to cuddle and loves to get pets. If you’re sitting down, he is going to get as close as possible to you. He loves treats and loves to catch them in his mouth. He also loves fruit (his favorites are strawberries and apples)! He likes to play with other dogs, but is super calm and relaxed at the same time. He likes the water, but isn’t a big swimmer. He is more inclined to get his feet wet and splash around which is so fun to see.

He is very obedient. He can sit, stand, lay down, and jump up on command. We are currently working on stay since he loves to follow you around from room to room. He is great on a leash. He has trouble staying focused because he loves to sniff every plant/fence along the way. It’s easy to get him to walk again though by just calling his name.

He has separation anxiety when separated from a person or another dog. He does not do well completely alone. If someone is home, or another dog is present in the room, he is completely relaxed. He is crate trained and loves to lay in his crate while the door is open. His crate does not prevent his separation anxiety. River loves to be outside and due to his breed a fenced in yard is required.

He is such a sweet boy and has improved so much since he was rescued. He has put on weight, his hair is soft and fluffy, and his demeanor has become more playful. He would do well in a house with other dogs and with someone who works from home or retired.
