My story

Jolene is part of the Dolly Parton gang of kittens. They listen to Dolly songs in the kitten room and they begged to be named after the songs. Can't you just hear Jolene playing when you look in her pretty little face?  Jolene is a loving purring machine who adores her foster mom and begs to be picked up.  She plays all day with her two brothers Joshua and Heartbreaker, and her two sisters, Evangelina and Raven Dove.

A RappCats adoption is quick and easy. We can usually complete an adoption within two business days after we receive your application.  Our application can be downloaded at www.rappcats.org.  We require a vet or personal reference and will conduct a home visit.

Our standard adoption fee of $150 offsets the costs of medical services and supplies so our cats are healthy and ready for adoption.  If two cats are adopted, the adoption fee for the second can be lowered or waived. Our baby kittens are normally available for adoption between 8 and 12 weeks of age. You may choose a kitten in advance to adopt when it is old enough.

RappCats is a non-profit organization that helps stray, abused, abandoned and unowned cats in Rappahannock County. We are strictly no-kill. If they are old enough, all our cats are current on their shots and have been spayed/neutered. We are also in constant need of foster homes to care for cats awaiting adoption. For more information or to adopt, contact us at 540.987.6050 or email us at rappcats@rappcats.org.

Additional adoption info

We conduct an initial phone interview/counseling to try to assure a good match. We'll fill out the application with you at that time, or you can do so when you meet the cat. We check vet references and will visit with you at your home as another way to try to be sure the cat will be a good fit for your family. Our adoption fee is $95, and includes the cost of spay/neuter.

More about this shelter

We operate the only community cat shelter in Rappahannock County, relying entirely on private funds. Our shelter is no-kill. We euthanize out of human compassion only those cats that are suffering and cannot be saved. Our shelter is also cage-free. The cats live, eat and sleep in large open spaces with each other. They are beloved to our dedicated volunteers. Our dedicated volunteers also help the residents of our rural county to spay/neuter cats; rescue, and provide shelter and medical care for stray, abandoned and injured cats; and find loving homes for homeless cats. All RappCats cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and healthy (unless otherwise noted).
