My story

My name is Gina!  I am one lucky puppy.  I am only 5-months-old or so.  My rescuer found me and my little sister underneath a burned out and abadoned mobile.  The lady was so nice when she told me I was going to a rescue and then I will be getting my own home.  I'm not sure what a rescue is but I think I like it.  The lady kept my little sister so I know she is safe.  Now, back to me!  I love to play and I am very smart.  My new foster Mom was so happy to see me learn how to use the magic door in less than a day.  Doggy door is what she calls it.  I think it's magic because I can go in and out whenever I need to potty.  My foster Mom tells me how proud she is and what I good girl I am because I potty outside so she called me house trained.  I love to play with my foster brother and sisters.  I have learned real quick how to obey the rules and do what the big dogs tell me.  Mom says I am confident and tells me I had to be so I could survive so long with just me and my little sister.  I think the big dogs think I'm funny when I start barking at them and tell them stuff.  They just come up and lick my face and push me with their big noses.

My foster mom bought a big pool for my little "hoomans".  While they were setting it up, I helped them too.  Mom saw how happy I was to play and get wet with my little hoomans, she bought me my very own pool.  After I dry off, I do love to go inside and watch the little ones play games or watch movies on those screen things.

All Lani’s Lucky Shepherds receive an individual examination by a local veterinarian, are current on vaccinations, spay or neutered, microchipped, and tested for heart worms and other intestinal worms and parasites. All incoming dogs receive Drontal Plus de-wormer or its equivalent as an extra precautionary step to go above and beyond to keep our rescued dogs healthy. We feed our rescue dogs high quality dog food and supplements while they live in our foster homes. All these costs are paid for by our rescue. You won’t have to pay for these normal costs or bother with the headaches of having to take your new dog to a vet for all these procedures.

We strongly suggest that you complete the adoption application process before choosing a dog from our web page. Most of the dogs on this web page will have approved adopters already looking at them. We get new dogs on a regular basis. The application process can take a couple of weeks depending on your schedule. You will have access to all of our available dogs once you are approved to adopt a rescue dog. Please visit www.luckyshepherds.com for more information. Please note that we only serve the Greater Houston area. We do not adopt our dogs to homes outside of the Houston and its neighboring areas.

More about this rescue

Lani’s Lucky Shepherds volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care. Lani’s Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
