My story

Meet Kane!
We love to see a survivor, and this cutie and his brother are just that! They had a rough start to life, coming down with parvovirus when they were just babies, but they were treated and now they are healed and ready to take on the rest of their lives!

Kane is a scruffy little cutie! He is 3 months old and a border collie/Australian shepherd mix, so he will be smart and have energy to boot! He loves dogs and kids, hasn’t been around cats but with proper introductions we are sure he would do just fine! Kane loves to sit in his foster mom’s lap for lengthy conversations and have zoomies in the yard with his brother. For just a young pup, he is a great listener and will surely be quick to learn! He is working on kennel training and proper house manners and is doing great for just a pup.

Kane is ready to put his hard times behind him. He is a happy, healthy little pup looking for his forever home! Is that you?

If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form

Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Why adoption is a great option

Kane, a Birmingham Australian Shepherd/Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie for sale in Birmingham, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie dog from a breeder in Birmingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Birmingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Birmingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Border Collie breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Birmingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
