My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kayda
3 years old
Female
30 pounds
Border Collie / Terrier mix
House trained

Found living feral with nine other dogs in a field, Kayda was understandably fearful when she entered her foster home. But time and tenderness, patience and paw-lenty of treats transformed her into a social and silly, active, affectionate and ever-so-merry miss.

Now she greets her fosters with a warm, wide smile and the friendliest of full butt-wiggle wags. Soaking up affection like a thirsty doggy sponge, she loves lying next to them on the couch and having her head and belly scratched as much as she loves covering the resident children with licks and cuddling with the other dogs.

Her favorite place, though, is the yard. Why? Because Kayda LOVES to run. Not only does she delight in zooming, here, there and everywhere, she especially enjoys coaxing the other dogs to play chase with her. Highly intelligent and easy to teach, she’s also learning to play ball and loving it.

Still slow to trust new people, however, easily startled by unexpected movements, and still accustoming herself to a leash, Kayda is very much a wonderful work in progress, gaining in confidence daily. And so, for this loving lady to truly thrive, she needs a home with a securely fenced yard, perhaps another calm dog as both mentor and playmate, and an equally loving family who will patiently bolster her confidence, continue her socialization, and keep her mentally and physically satisfied fur-ever.

Kayda is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Kayda, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly.
