My story

Bennie was rescued on 6/2/22 from a distant shelter where he was for a month and medical doggie. He was timid and a little nervous but warmed up. Friendly with other dogs and people. He had a rear leg wound. Shelter treated his wound gave him pain meds and did xray (all clear of issues). Bennie did fine with long distant transport and was nervous meeting foster home but after an hour he was lovable and felt safe. When he runs he has a slight limp on right side but can be petted with no reaction. He could have sprained it prior or at the shelter. We will see if resting it helps or will see our vet. In one day he is doing great and patiently waits to be taken out for potty break walk. Foster Home update: He likes to sniff my dog a lot so Evans doesn’t like him too much but will tolerate him. Seems dog friendly. Very confident. He seems to be okay with all people. Barked at first at my son but then sniffed and now is fine. Likes to be petted and likes to hang out with people- lays down close by. Not sure how he is with cat since we are keeping them separated and the cat is staying away for now. He likes to eat Weruva and also ate some canned food from whole foods. Hopefully he can gain some weight. He's pretty skinny. Slept in crate next to my dog and was just fine. Didn’t bark or whine at all all night. He walks very quickly even with the limp- faster than Evans! His leg doesn’t seem to be bothering him and he doesn’t seem to be in any pain. He didn’t have any problem jumping up to the sofa either. Seems to be potty trained but caught him about to mark around the house. Hopefully he’ll settle down…maybe just being in a new house with another dog he wanted to mark. Bennie seems to be leary of young kids on a walk. He needs an experienced adult home with yard. Maybe ok with kids 12 yrs and up.August 7, 2022, 12:35 am
