My story

Oui was surrendered to the Care Center as a stray so his behavior in a home environment is unknown. Oui has been observed to be somewhat social with select staff and handlers; he enjoys treats, work-to-eat enrichment items, and toys. But during his stay, Oui has begun to deteriorate and is a stressor for neighboring dogs due to him constantly slamming into his kennel door and poor kennel presence. When handlers approach his kennel, he lunges and snaps at their hands. Once removed from his kennel, he remains aloof with novel staff. Oui would be best set up to succeed in an adult-only home under the guidance of a certified trainer or behaviorist that utilizes reward-based, force-free methods for any behavioral challenges that may arise once Oui leaves the Care Centers.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy!

I am playful and cute!

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

A volunteer writes, "Say "Oui!" to adopting Oui! This handsome middle-aged boy lost him home due to his previous owner's hospitalization. At four years old, Oui is a perfect age for a new adopter- most of that young puppyish energy will be out but he will still be loads of fun! Oui says "oui oui" to snacks and he gets a whole buffet of all the treats we have. He is generally more reserved with us at the shelter, but is said to be friendly with strangers, people, and dogs in his previous home! He has a handsome smile, jowls that make you swoon, and a nice big phantom-of-the-opera-mask-spot on his face! Along with his big black nose, freckles around his cheeks, and chocolately longing eyes, I expect Oui will be the muse of his new home. Perhaps he will have a nice fluffy bed beneath a shrine dedicated to him. Oui's previously slept soundly in the same bed with his owner and preferred to spend his time indoors. He is said to be well behaved when left alone, walks nicely on the leash, and knows basic tricks. He could be easily photoshopped into all the photos of his adopter that line the walls that were taken prior to his adoption."
