My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Banjo a fun loving active young Siberian Husky/Lab mix.  I was found as a stray and I'm looking forward to my very own forever family.  I'm presently living with a family and using a crate at night and when my family leaves the house.  I'm a Husky and I love to run and play and if I get out I'm ready to explore the world so I'll need a family with a secure yard and no small children who may leave a door or a gate open for me to get out.  No apartments or town-homes, please.  I'm presently living with dogs and doing fine. My foster says I'm responding quickly to being in a house and a loving environment and enjoying my training.   I love playing in the pool, jumping and retrieving my football out of the pool with my foster's grandkids and the dog from next door.  Maybe we could go to the next level and do some dock diving!!  I also enjoy my walks on a leash so how about a walking or jogging buddy! I'm ready to go when you are!!!! If you are interested in me, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com to get more information on how to fill out an application and have a great meet and greet to see if we are a match made in heaven.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters must complete an application and SCP volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP adoption counselors review the applications, conduct in-person interviews and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. SCP checks applicants' vet references and may conduct a home visit at its discretion. So that the best interests of the pet are served, SCP reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone. The adoption fee starts at $110 for cats ($175 for two cats), $190 for dogs and $245 for puppies.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, feline leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.

Go meet their pets

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Our adoptable animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday (cats 10:30-2:30 and dogs 11:00-2:00) at the Petco store in Clear Lake (2410 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058 - corner of Bay Area and Space Center). A few cats may also be seen during the week in the condos at this Petco location.

More about this rescue

Second Chance Pets (SCP) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to providing unwanted pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs, educating the public about proper care for their own animals and about animal welfare issues, and working with the public, other rescue groups, and public officials to help resolve the problem of animal overpopulation.
